The Gardens Between looks as though it aligns with Nintendo’s promise to release more indie games in the next coming weeks. Many are anxious to see if the Nintendo eShop will lose some of its quality when it releases this kind of quantity of games. The Gardens Between looks like it may alleviate some of those worries.
The game plays off of the expanding, isometric style that made games like Fez and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker popular. In the case of The Gardens Between, the mechanic emphasized is the ability to manipulate time. Arina and Frendt must now explore this dreamy, cel-shaded environment. And, did you happen to see the giant Famicom-like console in the trailer?
The Gardens Between is slated for release on the Nintendo Switch in Q3 of 2018. It will simultaneously release on PlayStation 4 and PC.
