Amidst all of tonight’s excitement – with the announcement of Let’s Go Eevee and Let’s Go Pikachu, and the shadow-release of Pokemon Quest, you may have missed an important detail. That’s that the next official Pokemon RPGs will release on Switch in the second half of 2019.
So, while Let’s Go Eevee and Let’s Go Pikachu are focusing the spotlight on a 3D Kanto reimagining that utilizes Pokemon Go mechanics, those craving a new RPG will have to wait until next year. Whether we will see a remake of a past region (Gen four is next in line) or if we will see a brand new region, a new story, and a large assortment of new Pokemon will not be determined until later on. It will mark the first mainline Pokemon RPG to reach a home console.
While next to nothing is known about the title, and most Pokefans will be focused on the other three Pokemon games we just learned about tonight, it is nice to know Game Freak’s planned release schedule well in advance.
What do you think? Do you care about the RPGs this far in advance (of course you do), or are you more focused on returning to Kanto this November instead with Let’s Go Eevee and Let’s Go Pikachu? Let us know in the comments.
