Skins/decals for electronics have become increasingly popular over the past few years. One of the top companies associated with these is dBrand. If you’ve spent any time around the tech side of YouTube, chances are you’ve seen a few sponsorships from them in videos.
Just after the launch of the Switch last year, dBrand was at the ready with its set of signature skins. But, there was a problem. The adhesive coating that the skins use did not play nicely at all with the material the Switch is built out of. Removing a skin after application is typically a clean process, but in the case of the Switch it made the surface of the system and its accessories looked like they were scuffed. These issues forced dBrand to pull their Switch skins out of circulation.
Fast-forward to now, and it looks like some progress has been made. dBrand recently announced out of scenic nowhere that its Switch skins would be returning—and on 4/20 of all days (the same day that Nintendo Labo releases).
It all started just a few days ago with a random tease which came as a result of a fan asking if the company had found a workaround for the aforementioned issue:
It was then followed up by a clear release date and a sweet snapshot of a customized Switch:
Dunno. 4/20? 4/20 sounds like a good launch day.
