A few weeks ago, the Rocket League development team over at Psyonix detailed its plans for future updates that are coming to the game. One update in particular will bring some new graphical features to the Switch version of the game. Players will be able to select whether they want to play in ‘Quality’ or ‘Performance’ mode. As the names suggest, quality-mode will target prettier visuals, but performance mode will offer a full 60 FPS at the cost of some beauty points.
Performance Mode – 900p (Docked) / 720p (Handheld) @ 60 FPS with infrequent dynamic resolution scaling.
Quality Mode – Native 1080p (Docked) / 720p (Handheld) @ 30 FPS with added visual effects
We now know that these graphical upgrades will be coming to the Switch as part of the new Tournaments’ update which will launch on all platforms April 3. This new update will add a tournaments mode, along with new features such as in-game music, item stacking, and more detailed information of your connection status when playing online.
