Acclaimed sidescrolling stealth-action game Mark of the Ninja has a remaster coming to Switch this Fall. The news came as the opening announcement at today’s Spring 2018 Nindies Showcase.
Originally released in 2012 on Xbox 360 and PC, Klei Entertainment was able to masterfully orchestrate an unlikely combination of stealth and 2D platforming. Players sneak around levels divided into light and dark areas and they must make use of silent assassinations in order to avoid detection. A challenging aspect of the game separating it from other 2D platformers is its use of a line-of-sight mechanic; if an enemy cannot see the player character, then the player cannot see that enemy (but can make use of sounds and other signs in order to locate enemies). The game was very well received upon its release, earning a 91 out of 100 on Metacritic. When Mark of the Ninja Remastered releases this Fall, it will be the first time that the game is available outside of Xbox and PC.
