The Nintendo Switch is a great system, but one glaring flaw that it has deals with its current voice chat system. For some odd reason, Nintendo has decided to regulate the system’s voice chat infrastructure to an app for smartphones. This has understandably left a lot of people upset since it’s very clunky to be using your phone and Switch simultaneously. Instead of this abomination of a Switch + phone + headset voice chat set-up, one company has stepped up to the plate to provide a much more convenient solution: SteelSeries.
SteelSeries is known for making premium gaming products, and it’s used its expertise to develop a new headset that benefits Switch users especially—the Bluetooth Arctis 3. What makes this headset special is that it has the ability to accept audio signals from both a standard wired connection and also a Bluetooth connection simultaneously. That means you can connect the headset to your phone via Bluetooth for the Switch Voice Chat app while also having it connected to the Switch’s headphone jack for a nifty dual audio set-up.
Of course, it would still be more convenient if Nintendo just added voice chat to the system’s OS, but this solution from SteelSeries is still rather nice. Not to mention you can use the dual audio functionality of this headset with other devices too. Now, as nice as all of this is, it must be noted that there is a catch—the price.
If you want a pair of Bluetooth Arctis 3s, you’re going to have to shell out a whopping $130. That’s nearly half the price of a Switch. Obviously, this isn’t targeted at consumers on a budget, unfortunately. But, if you have the cash, the convenience would certainly be nice to have.
