If you’re a big sports fan, then chances are you’ve heard of the X-Games before. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a sporting tournament that features events like skateboarding and BMX. But this year, the X-Games is about to heat up with what’s arguably the most extreme sport in existence: rocket-powered vehicular soccer. Of course, I’m talking about Rocket League.
The insanely competitive title will be making its X-Games debut on July 14-16th. The tournament will have a prize pool of $75,000, so no doubt it’s going to be a pretty intense competition. You can tune in live via ESPN’s online channel, ESPN 3.
This announcement comes after another equally exciting announcement that a major Two. vs Two. tournament will be taking place in August. This will be the first televised Rocket League tournament and will be handled by the NBC and SyFy networks.
Rocket League is avaliable right now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. A Nintendo Switch version is set to be released towards the end of this year.
Having been introduced to video games at the age of 3 via a Nintendo 64, A.K has grown up in the culture. A fan of simulators and racers, with a soft spot for Nintendo! But, he has a great respect for the entire video game world and enjoys watching it all expand as a whole.
