Nintendoom? Not quite.

NPD sales figures came out today, and while Nintendo has yet to make a statement, NPD analyst Liam Callahan has shed a little light on Nintendo’s situation. Liam stated that Wii U software sales were up an impressive 80% over last April’s sales. While the Wii U may have had a somewhat quiet month for retail releases, it seems that many gamers were stocking up on backlog titles over the month of April to tide them over until the release of Mario Kart 8.

As more news comes out of the NPD numbers we will be sure to keep you updated. For now though, it looks like the Nintendoom myth has suffered yet another crushing blow, and the Wii U should see a steady increase in the following months on both software and hardware sales, especially with Mario Kart 8 releasing on May 30th.
