Earlier today it was revealed that a new character would be announced for the upcoming Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Super Smash Bros for Wii U, this coming Monday. A rumor has emerged stating that Xenoblade’s director Tetsuya Takahashi has retweeted the announcement, teasing that this reveal may have something to do with the Xenoblade series.

Over the past two years, a pattern has emerged regarding Nintendo announcements, generally if there was any Monolith Soft involvement, Tetsuya Takahasi’s wife would retweet the announcement as a tease of her husbands work’s inclusion. A Xenoblade character featuring in Super Smash Bros is at the top of many fan’s most wanted announcements so Nintendo would please a lot of people if this came true. The Super Smash Bros game is currently in development at Namco Bandai Studios in collaboration with Project Sora, lead by Super Smash Bros creator Masahiro Sakurai. The 3DS version of the game, marking the series first portable entry, will see release this October 3rd worldwide. The Wii U version is intended to follow in either November or December and will mark the launch of Nintendo’s own NFC-figurine platform known as Amiibo.
