In a recent interview, the producer of Splatoon, Hisashi Nogami, commented on the fact that Splatoon would be impossible to make without the gamepad. Nogami asserted that the gamepad had been integral to Splatoon from the very beginning and would not have ever been created had the gamepad not existed.

“If we didn’t have the GamePad, we wouldn’t be able to create the game we have now” said Nogami. “The GamePad was in there from the beginning. We obviously went through a lot of tuning processes to get it where it is now. We had to think about lots of different things – what buttons should go where, what buttons should do what, how sensitive the gyro should be. You might not be super aware when you play the game, but we did a lot of testing to make sure the game feels as good as it does now.”

Could Splatoon finally be the game the Wii U needs to prove the validity of the gamepad to gamers who have not yet purchased the Wii U? Make sure to let us know below!
