When Nintendo announced that Platinum’s Wii U port of the original Bayonetta would feature Nintendo-themed costumes, most people thought that these costumes were just for show. Bayonetta would run around in a Samus, Link, or Princess Peach crushing enemies as would usually be expected. In a recent interview with Isao Negishi, director of the Bayonetta Wii U port, it was revealed, however, that these costumes also grant Bayonetta special abilities when they are in use. When Bayonetta wears the Peach outfit she can summon Bowser, if she wears a Link costume she can fight with the Master Sword, and if Bayonetta is wearing the Samus outfit she can lift her visor up and down during cut scenes.

Negishi then went on to tease even more additions in the Wii U version of the game:

“I think you can see why I’m not hesitant to call this Wii U port a ‘Special Editon.’ This actually isn’t everything new the game has to offer.”

Will you be picking up Bayonetta 2 bundled with the original Bayonetta when it launches this October? We’d love to hear your thoughts below!
