This afternoon Nintendo of America revealed a new entry in the Fossil Fighters series will be heading to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

Fossil Fighters: Frontier delivers several series firsts, such as how players can now hop into their vehicles and drive around exotic locations to excavate fossils. These will then transform into real-life dinosaurs known as Vivosaurs which players battle against wild Vivosaurs they encounter on digging adventures.

While driving, players can set off radar blasts to help discover dinosaur fossils. Different vehicles possess different features, for example, a racing buggy drives fast and allows players to reach faraway places, whereas a carrier buggy is great for transporting more items. Once you\’ve discovered a fossil, your tasked with cleaning it with paleontologist tools like hammers and drills on the Nintendo 3DS\’s touch screen.  Players will be rewarded with stronger Vivosaurs when it comes to battle if they take time cleaning their fossils thoroughly. The game will also make use of local online play, so players can explore and excavate the dig sites as a three-player team. There will also be an online battle mode for six player Vivosaur battles, fighting three-on-three in a grand stadium.

More information will be released over the coming months ahead of the games 2015 release date.
