Who said the NES is dead?
Although the system was released almost 29 years ago, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is still a fan favorite with retro gamers, as the diverse library of timeless games has been pleasing fans for decades. While homebrew rom hacks have become common place, not many people or companies go through the process of actually releasing a physical cart of their game. Popular YouTube vlogger John Lester, better known as Gamester81, and Collectorvision games are going the full length with their upcoming NES game: Sydney Hunter & The Mayan’s Revenge.
Taking inspiration from Montezuma’s Revenge, Indiana Jones, and Pitfall, Syndey Hunter will be traveling to various areas with various boomerangs using them to complete levels. Hidden levels, big boss battles, and much more are included in this game. Also, the game will use checkpoints to give it a bit of a modern flair. With a gorgeous art style and fast platforming, Sydney Hunter & The Mayan’s Revenge looks to be a great addition to NES collectors library. The game will be available in fully boxed, and cartridge only options. The game is slated for a late 2014 release, hopefully in time for Christmas as this would look marvelous under any tree.
