According to Nintendo, Dominic beat off stiff competition in the regional heats in Southampton, and was crowed winner in the Pokémon Apprentice category in London on April 26th, 2014 where comedian Johnny Vegas was on hand to present the award. The Pokémon Apprentice battles saw new, enthusiastic Pokémon Trainers from across the country compete, using their best Pokémon strategies to win a mega bundle of Nintendo 3DS games. Dominic emerged victorious from his rivals in the final heat by using level 50 Goodra and Jolteon with the Thunder Bolt move. Dominic showed off his Pikachu tactics in three heats in Southampton before using Pokémon Ferrothorn and Tyranatar in the final battle in London to be crowned Pokémon Apprentice.

Daniel, winner in the Junior Expert in the regional heats in Birmingham, went up against trainers aged 12 years and under from across the country, using their best Pokémon to win a weekend trip to Alton Towers for their whole family. Using level 50 Tyranitar and Garchomp with the Rock Slide and Draco Meteor moves, Daniel emerged victorious. Daniel showed off his Pikachu moves in the regional heats in Birmingham Bullring GAME before using Pokémon Rotom and Nidoking at the finals in London to be crowned Pokémon Junior Expert.

Francis and Joshua, winners in the regional heats in Hamleys Regent Street, went up against other teams consisting of two family members (one aged 16 or older, and one 12 or under) to compete in a four-player Double Battle on Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Francis emerged victorious when he used Politoed and Amoonguss with the Hydro Pump and Spore moves on his opponent in the finals. Joshua beat off his rivals in the final by using level 50 Talonflame and Kingdra with the Muddy Water and Brave Bird moves. Francis and Joshua showed off their Pikachu tactics in three battles in London before using Pokémon Kingdra and Politoed at the final battle in London to be crowned Ultimate Team. For their efforts, Francis and Joshua have won £250 of Nintendo UK Online Store vouchers as well as a group trip for four to one of the world’s best gaming shows; EGX London 2014 in September, to play the biggest games before they are released.

Oliver, crowned Ultimate Pokémon Expert, reigned victorious against Pokémon Trainers aged 13 years and older from across the country to win a week-long trip for two to Japan, the birthplace of Pokémon. Oliver will get to visit the real-life Pokémon Center and explore all the sights of Tokyo. He will even receive fast track entry to the second round of the official Play! Pokémon UK VGC series, organised by The Pokémon Company International, taking place in May.

His tools? A level 50 Meowstic and Garchomp with the Light Screen and Earthquake moves. Oliver showed off his Pikachu moves in four battles in Westfield, Stratford before using Pokémon Tyranitar and Mawile at the finals in London to be crowned Ultimate Pokémon Expert.

Dominic

It feels amazing to have won the Pokémon Apprentice title, I was worried about the Grand Final, but my Goodra served me well in the final battle. It was very exciting to have been presented with my award by Johnny Vegas and I can’t wait to show off my award to all of my friends who love Pokémon as much as I do!

Following his success he has said he will enter as many future Pokémon battles as they can to retain his Apprentice victory.

Daniel

I’ve loved every minute of the Battle Tournament, especially being presented with my Junior Expert award by Johnny Vegas in London. I managed to win my final battle using Garchomp on another Garchomp, so I’ll make sure I definitely use that Pokémon in any future battles with my friends.

Following his success he will be taking to the Pokémon stage again, having been fast tracked to the UK Pokémon Video Game Championships in May, where he will be hoping for further victory.

Francis and Joshua

It’s so exciting to have been crowned Ultimate Team and we cannot wait to spend our vouchers on Nintendo goodies as well as have a sneak peak at some of the biggest games at EGX London 2014. We’ll have to make sure we use our Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS to continue practicing to retain our title. We’re definitely going to use Kingdra in any future battles too, as it proved so well in the Grand Final.

Following their success Francis and Joshua have said they will enter as many future Pokémon battles as they can to retain their Ultimate Team victory.

Oliver

It’s so exciting to have been crowned Ultimate Pokémon Expert and I cannot wait to board a plane to Japan and visit the home of Pokémon, and use my Nintendo 3DS to entertain me on the flight! I thought I was going to lose when my Meowstic was Paralyzed three times in a row, but I managed to turn it around and use Tyranitar to Rock Slide to victory!

Following his success he will be taking to the Pokémon stage again, having been fast tracked to the second round of the official Play! Pokémon UK VGC event in May, where he will be hoping for further victory.
