Nintendo highlighted a whopping eighteen titles in Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct coming from Indie developers for the Wii U eShop, several of which were previously unannounced. Wooden Sen’SeY was just one of them, and is in development by a two man team known as Upper Byte, with the help of long-time Wii U supporters Neko Entertainment (Puddle, Kung Fu Rabbit).

Wooden Sen’Sey is an action-platformer set in a unique “Japan Steam Rock” universe. The game follow’s Goro, a Village Chief as he is searching for his stolen bottles of precious ‘SeY’. He can take on enemies in several varied levels using axes to slice, dice, squash and grapple. As for a release date, the game is currently “coming soon” to the Nintendo eShop.

Upper Byte plan on debuting the game at GDC Europe (August 19-21) and Gamescom (August 21-25). It previously won the advisory board special price at Game Connection Asia 2012 and was also an IndieCade 2012 Finalist.

I’m the Developer Liaison at Nintendo Enthusiast, and when I’m not working my butt off at the toy store I manage, I’m talking with developers from around the world, promoting crowd-funding campaigns, conducting interviews and also offering advice and support to developers looking to bring their games to Wii U & 3DS.
