During a recent earnings call with investors, Gamestop’s President Tony Bartel was asked about the state and sales of the Wii U console. Interestingly enough, Bartel was incredibly optimistic about the future of the platform, saying that Nintendo is doing a good job justifying the Gamepad and releasing first-party titles for the console.

“We’ve been very consistent every time we’re asked about the Wii U. Really what they needed was two things: they needed strong first-party titles, which we think that they are getting; and they also needed to do a better job of explaining exactly what the connected tablet–as we like to call it–how you actually use that. I think they are going to do a great job on both of those.”

Perhaps this optimism has been spurred by a recent growth in sales for the platform as well as a steady stream of holiday games? Nevertheless, it is nice to see a big retailer putting their support behind the console.
