News that Square-Enix were developing a new Final Fantasy spin-off exclusively for the 3DS emerged last week during the rush that was E3 2014 and may have gone unnoticed by some. This new game could best be described as Square-Enix’s take on Monster Hunter whilst taking a little influence from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

The first information about this exciting new title came from Japan’s Jump magazine, and now a whole heap of new information pertaining to the game’s jobs system have come for the official website which has just launched. As with all good JRPGs, the game features a jobs mechanic featuring several well loved staples. Knights, Monks, Black Mages and White Mages are the first four confirmed roles available to players. Knights are considered to be well-balanced in both offense and defense and specialize in guarding against attacks. Monks on the other hand are all about physical attacks, vitality and have the ability to rush down enemies with a series of attacks. Sadly they do have a weakness being their low level of defense. The Mages both specialize in magic attacks, with the black Mage taking care of offensive attacks and the white Mage taking on the role of a healer.

No release date for the game has yet been announced but it would be safe to expect the game in Japan before the end of the year. A western release as always with JRPGs is a questionable one, but hopefully Square-Enix will feel confident after the success of the 3DS’ Bravely Default.
