After some deliberation, Snowcastle Games has decided to cancel their Kickstarter for Festival of Magic, to restart anew this coming February 20.

Snowcastle explains they launched their Kickstarter at a bad time, citing the launches of both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One and holiday shopping (particularly for Thanksgiving and Black Friday, although I think Cyber Week deserved a mention). However, to add to this, they received a spate of additional funding that will tide them over in continued development until said date.

Snowcastle’s gameplan in the near future includes a better conceived structure for reward tiers, new rewards, improved update plans, including video updates, and stronger plans to work with gaming media to get the word out.

If you are a Kickstarter backer already, there is no need to cancel your pledges. In fact, Snowcastle plans to give out loyalty awards to those who keep their commitments. They are also keeping their Kickstarter page open in the meantime so they can continue to update fans.

We don’t know how Snowcastle got their extra funding, but that affords them a luxury few other Kickstarters have received. We wish them the best of luck with the pending Kickstarter restart next year.
