In a recent Q & A session with the recently-resigned Dan Adelman, the indie guru pointed out his thoughts on the sales of the Wii U console. Adelman pointed out that the Wii U has a variety of great titles that are exclusive to the platform; however, Adelman did also say that the name of Wii U cut the potential sales of the console by at least half.

“Wii U is not selling as well as it deserves to. It has a lot to offer with great games you can’t get anywhere else. The value of the GamePad hasn’t been justified. But the name Wii U is abysmal. I think that cut sales in half right there.”

Dan Adelman announced his resignation from Nintendo yesterday. Adelman was often credited for bringing all the indies to the eShop and growing the digital platform to what it is today. Now, Adelman helps smaller indie developers market their games successfully.
