Nintendo recently performed some routine network maintenance. It looks like part of this maintenance was dedicated to making some improvements to the Switch eShop, as some new tabs are now visible.
Firing up the eShop will reveal a new “Featured” tab and also a new “Great Deals” tab, which replaces the “Sales” tab that was there before.
The Featured tab should help with discoverability if Nintendo curates it properly. You can more than likely expect to see high-profile Nindie releases there a lot, including obvious first and third-party entries. Another small improvement is that the eShop charts now show the Top 30 titles, and they’re seperated into two groups: “All” and “Digital-Only Titles”.
These are all nice improvements, but the Switch eShop still feels rather empty when compared to the 3DS and Wii U’s offerings. Not because of a lack of titles, but just because we still don’t have any theme music. Come on Nintendo, make shopping fun again!
