Game delays have become a pretty common occurrence, but typically we hear about delays far in advance. That’s not the case here with NBA Playgrounds 2. It was revealed not too long ago and was slated for a May 22nd release across all platforms (Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC). Now, Saber Interactive (the development studio) has stepped forward to announce that this release date no longer applies and has not provided a new one. The only information that has been given is that the game has been delayed to “take arcade basketball to new levels.”
Here’s the full statement via the game’s official Facebook page:
“We’ve got some news to share, but we want to start by saying ‘good things come to those who wait.’ There are exciting things brewing with the NBA Playgrounds franchise that we think will take arcade basketball to new levels.
We can’t tell you everything now, but we can tell you that this means our launch date of May 22nd will be moved out. Please be patient with us, we promise that NBA Playgrounds 2 will be better than ever. We’ll have more details to share soon.”
Hopefully, the new details that will be released “soon” will give a proper outlook on exactly when we can expect the game to release. It’s definitely disheartening for this news to have been released so close to the original launch date. With that being the case, it suggests something major must have happened to cause this kind of move.
