Nintendo is one of the most quirky companies out there in the gaming realm. As evidenced by the hybrid design of the Switch, it’s clear that the Big N has no qualms with thinking outside of the box to provide new and innovative ways to play games. It looks like there might be some exciting new developments on the horizon, as Nintendo President Kimishima has confirmed that Nintendo is looking to invest in technology companies that “are a good match for Nintendo”. This news comes from a Q&A session held during the recent March Financial Briefing.
Here’s Kimishima’s full statement:
At its core, the Nintendo business revolves around creating new and innovative content, so
that is where we must invest the most. We want to keep consumers engaged, and with
technology advancing at such a tremendous pace, we will want to consider investing in parties
that have technologies we feel are a good match for Nintendo, if we can find them. I cannot
provide any details at this time, but we are looking at all kinds of possibilities, and will continue
to do so.
This sounds exciting! What could come out of this, though? Perhaps some new accessories/add-ons for the Switch? Or, tech for all-new future hardware? We’ll just have to wait and see.
