The Nintendo Switch has made quite an impact on the world since it launched last March. The system has been performing well in market after market all over the world. It’s also made some big moves in a market that has notoriously been quite small for Nintendo: the UK.
According to a report from MCVUK on data obtained from Ukie, the games market in the United Kingdom was worth 12.4% more in 2017 year-on-year. A big chunk of this increase has been credited to the high sales of Nintendo Switch units in the region, which resulted in the entire number of hardware sales jumping by 29.9% according to GfK’s Dorian Bloch. He pointed to how the Switch’s stellar performance is similar to that of the Wii, which we all know was also a massive hit back in its day.
So far, the Switch has clearly built up an impressive amount of momentum. It will be interesting to see how it continues to perform in the UK, as well as in other regions.
