One question about the Switch that I’ve been seeing continuously since launch is: “When is Netflix coming?” The incredibly popular video-streaming service already available on so many types of devices, which makes the Switch one of the very few modern devices out there that actually don’t support it. But despite there being a lot of fanfare surrounding its absence, Netflix has been relatively quiet. When the company has said something, it’s been pretty confusing and vague. Even so, the Netflix has been working on something in the Nintendo world recently—the Wii U. No, seriously.
As pointed out by Redditer ‘Stripless, an update was recently rolled out for the Wii U Netflix app. However, no patch notes were released so it’s not known exactly what this update did. In any case, it’s very interesting to see any Wii U game or application still get an update these days. After all, it’s been 13 months since the console was discontinued and nearly a full year since its successor launched.
Will Netflix ever come to the Switch, though? Only time will tell. For now, Hulu is your only video-streaming option (unless you understand Japanese, then you can use the NicoNico app too).
