Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you should already know that the Nintendo Switch has been quite a big hit worldwide ever since it launched back in March. It’s been topping sales charts all over, even to the point where it’s become the fastest-selling home console ever in the U.S. It turns out this isn’t the only country where the Switch has been making massive movements.
Nintendo has now also confirmed that the Switch has become the fastest-selling home console in Italy. Just like in the US, it’s first-year success has managed to supersede that of the Wii, which is Nintendo’s previous big home console hit. Having sold over 100 million units, the Wii is still the best-selling Nintendo home console ever and one of the best-selling game systems of all time. It’s still early to determine if the Switch can pull off a similar feat, but if its momentum keeps up like this, that just may end up becoming a reality. The European market is typically the weakest for Nintendo, although individual countries in the region seem have different levels of interest, as this report shows.
