The Game Awards 2017 are almost here. Say what you will about the show itself, but there is a chance for some cool announcements to be made. Back in 2015, Nintendo gave fans a new look at what would later be known as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This year, Nintendo has been promoting the show, which leads me to believe they’ll have an announcement of some sort. Down below I’ve listed three ideas as to what Nintendo might show off.
Breath of the Wild DLC – The Champions’ Ballad
The Champions’ Ballad DLC pack is still slated to release this year. With no word yet from Nintendo, The Game Awards seems like a perfect place to unveil details from the content pack. Seeing as Breath of the Wild is nominated for Game of the Year, it would only make sense to talk about The Champions’ Ballad and give it a release date.
Metroid Prime 4 – first look
Nintendo broke the internet when they announced Metroid Prime 4. Although fans only got a logo, it was enough. The outcry for another installment in the console Metroid series has been loud, and it seems like the company is hearing out fans. The Game Awards would be a perfect place to show off the game for the first time. Not only would Nintendo fans tune in for the footage, but fans of all consoles and games would be subject to the trailer as well. It’d be a smart way for Nintendo to attempt to bring in fans that don’t traditionally play their games.
Announce a game for 2018
Nintendo hasn’t talked too much about their plans for 2018. We know a Fire Emblem game is in the works, along with Yoshi and Kirby Star Allies. Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon are coming to the system, but no release window has been given. It’s time for them to start getting fans ready for 2018, and what better way than to announce a new game? Something along the lines of Pikmin, Smash Bros., or Animal Crossing would surely get the crowd hyped.
