The Nintendo Switch got off to a strong start when it launched back in early March. While we know sales have been high, an exact number was only given once by Nintendo a few months ago when it released its financial report for that period. Now, the company has released an updated financial report which gives us a new look on how things are going.
According to Nintendo’s latest financial quarter report (Q1 2018) officially lists Switch sales at 4.7 million worldwide. 1.7 units have been sold within this quarter. For the sake of comparison, the Wii U was a little over 3 million units sold within a similar timeframe. So as we can see, the Switch is well ahead of its predecessor already.
This really isn’t new information as the system managed to have the best launch for a Nintendo console, but it’s still worth noting. With stock shortages currently plaguing the Switch on a global scale, the growth of the number of units is being staggered at the moment. When Nintendo is able to rectify the situation, hardware sales should naturally increase to show the high demand.
