There are a lot of Switch carrying cases out there. As you would expect, their primary function is to protect the system when you have it out-and-about along with you. But since the Switch is a portable device, there’s also sometimes the need to charge it up. That’s impossible to do while on the move unless you also carry a battery bank with you, which may lead to you having to take the Switch out of its case in order to charge it. The folks at Nyko took that issue into mind and have designed a case that not only protects the system, but also charges it too: the Power Shell.
Nyko’s Power Shell Case sports its own 6000 mAh, 5V, 2A battery which can be used to charge up the Switch while it’s laying inside of the case. The Switch’s own battery is 4,310 mAh so the Power Shell is large enough to supply a full charge and even an additional boost later on. In addition to the built-in battery, the Power Shell also has storage slots for game cartridges and microSD cards. It even has its own built-in stand, so you can charge the Switch and still play in tabletop mode.
Amazon’s listing for the Nyko Power Shell Case is now live and has its release date slated for August 1st, which isn’t too long from now. You can pre-order it for $40.
