Psyonix, the developer of Rocket League, has confirmed to Polygon several new details regarding the Switch version of the title. Psyonix is targeting 60 frames per second for the Switch, as well as 720p resolution in both docked and handheld mode. Psyonix told Polygon that it regards the game’s performance as paramount to the visuals, which is likely why it chose to target 60 fps as opposed to 1080p resolution.
Rocket League is a massive game on other platforms, boasting more than 30 million players across all its platforms. That is likely why the developer sought to unify its online presence. Earlier this week, Psyonix announced that Rocket League would receive a cross-play patch, allowing those on Switch to play with others on the PC and Xbox.
As of yet, Rocket League does not have a release date on the Nintendo Switch, but is slated for launch this holiday. We will keep you updated as new details are announced.
