In this episode of The Score, we hear your feedback from last week’s “Golden Nintendo Moment” episode.

We also ask for you to weigh in on the possibility of a new 3rd party exclusive on Nintendo platforms. Take a guess: If there were a new exclusive 3rd party announcement for the Wii U or 3DS, what would it be?

First off, we had a MASSIVE response from one user on Miiverse. Usually, I would embed the Miiverse post into the article, but this one is more like 70 posts, so all those interested should definitely check out Miiverse! It’s a very well put together and well-told story.

It was probably when i first knew that Mario, Zelda, Metroid & Pokemon were all made by Nintendo.. you know when I was little, people didn’t had internet like they do now, & Nintendo didn’t really exist in Asia, outside japan of course, so I didn’t know anything about them, save that their logo was on my GBC for some reason.. i remember that was my first time grasping at how majestic & awesome nintendo is, i was so mind-blown, you guys don’t even know lol!

Watching Mario 64 for the first time in motion…I was in awe…the leap from the SuperNes to the N64 was astounding…especially when compared to now…where from the PS3 to PS4 you barely notice it…

When I went to pick up my N64 with Mario 64 at Toy’s ‘r Us with my dad I remember all the parents wanting to buy theirs for their children but it wasn’t available..mine luckily was pre-ordered so when they saw us walking around with a N64 they were all over us asking how we got ours..and if we would sell ours…

My dad was like “let’s hurry up and leave before someone beat us up in the parking to steal it”!

So many over the years. My Top Memories.

Starting and Finishing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time over 6 weeks and going a week over before the GameCube came out. Once I finished O. of T. I plugged in my GameCube and starting playing Luigi’s Mansion. One of my Best 4 months of Gaming ever.

Top one being 15 and coming home from High School and taking turns exploring the Levels of The Legend of Zelda (Original) with my Dad. He’d play some and find some stuff then I’d play and find some stuff. Then on the Later Dungeons we’d both curse a bit while trying to figure out how to beat the next Dungeon Boss. (Well before the Internet.)

Watching my Nephews Reaction when I Bought him a Wii. And soon when I get him the Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle… (He’ll be turning 8 soon)

E3 2005 when Iwata said “you want a revolution? Well… We’ve got one!” Somewhere like that, but the crowd reaction was unreal and it did bring a revolution. One of their best consoles alongside the DS and a fantastic generation for then. Good to see 3DS is doing OK and hopefully Wii U will manage to get on track.

When Super Smash Bros. Brawl came out, I took off work and decided I’d binge my way through The Subspace Emissary in a single sitting (with a couple breaks for food and bathroom).  Halfway through, my roommate at the time walked in, and he joined me for the rest of the journey.  After waiting so long for the game to release, nothing could be more satisfying.  Even without an “adventure mode”, I intend to do something similar for SSB4…perhaps even both versions.

I’ve been trying to rack my brains to pinpoint my golden moment, and I don’t think I can do it. There is always something so special about inserting that cartridge or disc for the first time. I could opt to say that every Nintendo moment is a golden moment as it is a sum of its parts…. But that would be just laaaaaaame (and cheesy).

A defining moment for me was whilst playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the past. After hours of exploring, and retrieving the three gems and recovering the Master Sword I faced Agahnim and defeated him. I thought I had finally finished the game, how wrong was I?! What followed still gives me goosebumps on every subsequent playthrough. Whilst it’s pretty obvious now, at the time it was just magical and epic.

When I got my original Gameboy color for Christmas when I was 7 along with the Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Dx! I was very lucky to be introduced to The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo, and video games all at the same time!

Elia Pales owns pretty much every single product Nintendo puts out, and due to his impulsive tendencies, he also tends to purchase every gaming product put out in general. When not gaming, he’s probably running cross country or writing. He makes sure to take regular gaming breaks, though.
