The day after rumours emerge of Nintendo’s Kyoto and Tokyo offices expanding comes confirmation that Retro Studios have relocated…

Retro Studios previous address was 1835A Kramer Lane, Suite 100, Austin, Texas but they have now moved to 12345 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. The new offices are much larger, but at this time theres no information confirming if their headcount has significantly increased.

Retro Studios was originally founded in 1998 by Jeff Spangenberg after he left Acclaim Entertainment. They initially began producing four games exclusively for the Nintendo GameCube. Unfortunately due to chaotic and unproductive development these titles were ultimately shelved, but after impressing Shigeru Miyamoto himself they began work on a new Metroid project. This became Metroid Prime, which the studio went on to develop a full trilogy around as well as an upgraded Wii version and a modern re-imagining of Donkey Kong Country.

They have been working on at least one top secret Wii U project for nearly three years. Over the past year they have acquired numerous talented developers from around the industry such as Naughty Dog, iD, Vigil and Valve.
