Nintendo fans worldwide continue on as normal, as if nothing happened…

“What can be played on the Wii U is restricted by a region-lock feature; software not sold in the same region cannot be played.” Famitsu

For those in the know, this will come as no surprise. The NES was region locked, the SNES was region locked, the N64 was region locked… do you see where I’m going?

No? The GameCube was region locked and even the original Wii was region locked! Nintendo have a thing for region-locking their consoles you see. This means that gamers can only play games purchased from the same region as their console. While this may seem a bit of an asinine move on Nintendo’s part it does make a lot of business sense!

Hopefully we don’t have more operational: rainfalls on our hands!

The only system that was region free from Nintendo was Gameboy, Gameboy Advance and DS. Otherwise; don't care. I do not import. Makes localization teams lazy.
