Yes thats right! Pachter actually has something nice to say about Nintendo for a change! How could any deny them after such a mind-blowing day!!! I for one an absolutely wasted, as is my wallet after I went on a pre-order frenzy!
“I think Nintendo is pricing right, will capitalize on fervent fans who will buy at this price. 2013 alternatives become pretty compelling. I expect competition from lower priced 360/PS3 bundles, the Kindle Fire, iPad Mini. All could be competitive for mass market. The Wii U software lineup was better than I expected, third party support pretty solid, and Nintendo titles high quality.”
“I expect global manufacturing of 1 million Wii U’s per month, starting now. That means 7 million produced and shipped through March. We should see roughly 30% of units shipped to U.S., Europe, Japan with 10% ROW. There are at least 2 million fervent fans in each geography.”
Usually Pachter says mean things and Nintendo has success, now he’s saying nice things does this mean the Wii U is doomed? I don’t know
[UPDATE]
The positive comments continue…
On Wii U: if you know what Bayonetta and Monster Hunter are, you will get one at any price; if not, you might wait for a price cut. On Wii U success/failure: I think that it will sell 50% as well as Wii, but will start as well because of fan base and supply constraints. Wii U has two potential markets: hard core, who WILL buy it; and casual, who have a lot of alternatives. Casual competition threatens all 3. I think Wii was 50% casual, 50% core; 360 was 65/35; PS3 85/15. Casual alternatives (tablets, phones, social) hurt Nintendo more than others. - Michael Pachter
