More Clues Point to The World Ends With You 2

There was a teaser site with a countdown recently that seemed to catch everyone off guard. The font and soundtrack seemed to suggest that it was going to be a The World Ends With You sequel reveal, but in the end it was actually revealed that Square was releasing the original The World Ends With You on mobile devices. Mobile gamers were excited, but handheld owners were disappointed.

However, there is some saving grace to this whole drama. And that is, there are some clues that still point to a an honest-to-goodness sequel coming soon. This is besides for the fact that Tatsuya Kando, the game director, stated one year ago that there will likely be a sequel one day. There are two more recent clues however.

The first, comes from a magazine called Audition Monthly. It says that Square is looking for voice actors and singers for a new The World Ends With You project. The second is an image from the new ending to the mobile version of The World Ends With You.

The World Ends With You 2

As you can see, it says New 7 Days as the last scene in the game, with the main character looking a little shocked about this. It definitely implies a continuation to the adventure on its way. I’d say it’s likely that the future sequel won’t be Nintendo-exclusive, but will be released on 3DS, Vita, and maybe even mobile systems. At least, that is the direction Square-Enix has taken the game with their recent mobile release of TWEWY. As long as the final game delivers, I won’t mind the lack of exclusiveness.
