Wii U Release Date Leaked -November 18?
by Menashe
Three days ago I received word from my personal source that the North American release date has almost been set in stone. Recently, it was being suggested for a possible release on November 11th, but it seems that due to presumed last minute hurdles, retailers will begin stockpiling the console in early November in preparation for the November 18th launch day.
Now there is a leak going around the internet from a leak by game-accessory maker PDP at a GameStop managers’ conference in Texas. As one of the representatives was showing off the fall lineup, they let slip that the accessories would be available just ahead of Nintendo’s Nov. 18 launch date. Despite rescinding on the leak afterwards, this does fit with the information that I received merely two days before the leak. So, I’m going to take this as near fact. Although, there’s always the possibility of Nintendo themselves making a last minute change. But, barring any last minute hiccups, the release date should in fact be Nov. 18. This was the same release date as the Gamecube, Wii, and DS in North America.
Interestingly, the Nov. 18 launch date was supposedly being considered in a rumored Nintendo leak back in April of this year. With today’s new “leak”, it seems their attempts to try for slightly earlier didn’t work out, so now we’re back to the original plan.
In any case, the final word will most likely be given in the fast-approaching September 13th Nintendo press conference.
