Nintendo today revealed their financial results leading up to December 2012. As expected sales are lower than expected, but they have returned to profits…
- Net income of 14,545 million (around $159m)
- This was much improved over last years loss of $530m
- Net sales estimates for the full year revised down by 17.3%
- Wii U has sold 3.06 million units worldwide as of December 2012
- Wii sold 3.53 million units from April to December
- Nintendo has previously stated that it aims to sell 5.5 million Wii Us before the end of March, now revised to 4 million
- New estimate for game sales: 16 million as opposed to the original 24 million, down 33%
- So far this year 11.69 million games have been sold
- The best-selling Wii U launch game was Nintendo Land selling 2.33 million units
- 3DS saw a significant increase accross hardware and software
- Animal Crossing has sold extremely well including 800,000 eShop sales
- Software sales up 41% year-on-year
- Hardware overall sales up 11%
