Nintendo today revealed their financial results leading up to December 2012. As expected sales are lower than expected, but they have returned to profits…

  • Net income of 14,545 million (around $159m)
  • This was much improved over last years loss of $530m
  • Net sales estimates for the full year revised down by 17.3%
  • Wii U has sold 3.06 million units worldwide as of December 2012
  • Wii sold 3.53 million units from April to December
  • Nintendo has previously stated that it aims to sell 5.5 million Wii Us before the end of March, now revised to 4 million
  • New estimate for game sales: 16 million as opposed to the original 24 million, down 33%
  • So far this year 11.69 million games have been sold
  • The best-selling Wii U launch game was Nintendo Land selling 2.33 million units
  • 3DS saw a significant increase accross hardware and software
  • Animal Crossing has sold extremely well including 800,000 eShop sales
  • Software sales up 41% year-on-year
  • Hardware overall sales up 11%
